door in the airlock permits the space to function as a solar heat collector
for the house. This airlock also provides a tempering space when going
between the outdoors and the indoors and prevents a big blast of cold
air from entering the house at this time

looking westward down into the greenhouse. Glazing on the west side of
the airlock, as well as sunlight penetrating through the greenhouse adds
to the effectiveness of the airlock as a collector of solar heat in the
afternoon.
