car, a 2001 Toyota Prius, complements the efforts to minimize the consumption
of energy of the house. While not wishing to pursue a life style here in
New England without a car, I can at least drive a car that typically gets
between 40 and 50 miles to the gallon (see graph below of actual MPG values).
Wouldn’t it be nice if Americans started turning their backs on car
racing and focused more on human-powered competitions that didn’t require
the needless consumption of finite resources of oil and gasoline
